POST ROUND QUOTES
Monica Vaughn, Arizona State – NCAA Individual Champion
Â
Opening statement…
"It was a really tough week for everyone, including myself. I came out a champion, but really tough conditions, great course, had some tough weather, but was able to put that aside and really keep my focus, and I think that's what did it for me this week."
Â
Thoughts on finding out she had won the national championship…
"I think it was somebody on the team because (Coach) and I both didn't know. I think it might have been Robby (Robert Liti) or Madison (Kerley) -- I don't know, my whole team was just kind of like, 'you won,' and there comes the water, and it's like 55 degrees outside. But it was definitely the team that just kind of like ran up to me and told me."
Thoughts on being a senior and closing out stroke play as a champion…
"It actually didn't even hit me until this morning when we got out of the cars when we got to the golf course, Coach gave her great opening speech of each day, and then we kind of all started crying and I started crying and was like, oh, my gosh, it could be my last round ever as a Sun Devil.
"I know, I pulled it together and said, I have one round to play, and we'll hopefully get into match play, but being a senior and to finish like this is an amazing feeling. I mean, I can't even describe how I'm feeling right now. But to be a Sun Devil, too, is one of the greatest things."
Â
Thoughts on how to avoid a championship hangover…
"You know, I'm just going to go back and get something to eat and get a lot of sleep as quickly as I can, even though it's like almost nine and we've got to be up early. I slept 11 hours last night, so maybe that contributed. Get a lot of sleep, and this week is not over yet. We're not done. The Sun Devils are not done yet. We're going to go out and give it our best shot tomorrow and Wednesday."
Cheyenne Knight, Alabama – Carded a 69 to tie for 10th
Â
Thoughts on the adjustments she made leading into her final round of play
"Yesterday, after my round, I went over to the range and worked with Nick, our head coach, and I made a swing change because I just haven't been hitting the ball solid out here. If you miss the fairway you're automatically out of position. Even if you miss the green, you're probably going to have a tough shot. So I made a little swing change. Today I was really hitting my driver well and that's is usually the strongest part of my game. I hit a lot of greens and made a good six-footer for par on seventeen and fifteen. I really played solid. I think I missed like three greens today. I really putted well and it was just very solid."
Â
Thoughts on if her short game play helped her today
"Yes, definitely. I feel like just keeping the ball in front of you on this golf course. You really have got to stay mentally tough. You're probable going hit a good shot and it's probably going to miss the green, catch the wind or something. This golf course is so demanding and the conditions haven't been the best, but definitely teeing off at 7:30 this morning I got the better part of the golf course."
Â
Thoughts on how pleased she was after this round
"Yesterday, I started off really well. Then, coming down the back nine, I really hit some poor shots like the doubled seventeen after a perfect drive. I was very frustrated and my emotions got the best of me knowing how difficult this golf course is. Today I told myself that no matter what happens I am going to keep a good attitude. Finishing well, even though I hate for the team that this is the last day here. If you can play this golf course you can play any on the LPGA and play against anyone. I asked a lot of myself today, shooting the way I did. I'm really pleased with it."

Leona Maguire, Duke – Tied for Second Place
Â
Thoughts on her tournament performance
"I started to play better as the week went on, and played some really nice golf all week. Obviously, the conditions improved day by day and so did my golf. I had some really nice shots today, made some nice birdies, and very happy with how I played."
Â
Thoughts on her final round of play
"Obviously, there's still a lot of golf still to be played. Being in the morning is nice. I got to post a score, and, I guess, I just have to wait around, now, and see what the other girls do. There's some great players out there, so we'll see."
Jennifer Kupcho, Wake Forest – Tied for Second Place
Â
Thoughts on being a sophomore playing in the national championship…
"Obviously playing here at Rich Harvest Farms is a pretty great accomplishment just to get here. But then playing in the practice rounds, I don't think I had really played at a harder course, maybe Bandon Dunes is in the running, but just to play as well as I did in the practice round, I was questioning whether or not I would even go under par at all, and I broke that in the second round.
I think it's just kind of helpful and to move forward with that, it's a comfort knowing that I can play with everyone else."
COACHES
Emily Fletcher, Northwestern Head Coach -- No. 1 seed in Match Play
Thoughts on her team's performance…
"I'm so proud of them, we played great golf. Each day we got going pretty well. Today, hole one was a bear but we played it pretty well. Hannah Kim had an eagle on two. Even though the other players may not know how each other is doing, they feed off the momentum. Out here, especially since we've had so many people out, it's been a little easier to feel it. It was really bad out there. Some of those wind gusts had to be 30 miles per hour. The golf course showed up all three days." Â
Thoughts on advancing to match play…
"We've been close the last couple of years … More than anything they've learned that something good can come out of something hard. We were very disappointed not to win (Big Ten's) this year … and that was hard. Our kids responded and it probably didn't feel like it at the time … (but) it was a learning opportunity, and this is an indication that they took it as such. The greatest lesson that came out of that was to play great. Don't go out not to have mistakes, don't be careful, really stick to what they've been doing and not get careful. "
Thoughts on difference heading into match play…
"We've played quite a bit of match play this year. Over spring break we played in March Mayhem (at San Diego State), we played a dual match against Duke in Durham and then we had Alabama, Florida State, and Duke here for a single day match. I think our girls are prepared (more than ever). Not only did they earn it this year, but I think they're really prepared and ready to go play some match play."
Emily Glasser, Florida Head Coach – No. 6 seed in Match Play
Â
Thoughts on qualifying for Tuesday's match play
"Yesterday helped. We played a little bit better. Then, I think they started to see themselves how they could be successful on this golf course. It kind of erased the first day. Enough time had passed. We knew what we had to do. When your back's against the wall, it's play well or go home. I think they knew what they had to do and went out there and did it."
Â
Thoughts on if the improved weather conditions helped her team's performance
"It was nice to see the sun shining. We're getting a little more comfortable playing in the wind. You've been doing it now for a few days. Actually we've seen the wind blow from both directions on this golf course. Just getting a little more comfortable, not fearing the golf course as much."
Â
Thoughts on the change in mindset going to match play
"The main difference is that you're playing somebody else, whereas we talked about playing the golf course today. Depending on what the other person does might dictate what you do. That might change a little bit. We also have to appreciate that pars win a lot of holes out here. We just have to have a balanced approach."
Anne Walker, Stanford Head Coach – No. 6 seed in Match Play
Â
Thoughts on the elements effecting the course throughout the tournament…
"The course hasn't played the same over the last three days. We've had different wind, haven't had the same temperature, we haven't had the same conditions so it hasn't really played the same yet."
Â
Thoughts on approach for tomorrow's first round of match play…
"I'm not sure what the game plan is for tomorrow yet. We're going to meet as a team, see who we're playing but I don't think we'll really change too much what we do out there on the golf course. We've got some things to do tonight about how we're going to approach tomorrow."
Greg Robertson, Kent State Head Coach – No. 8 seed in Match Play
Â
Thoughts on the final round and advancing to match play…
"I probably had my heart beating a little harder than it should be but that's what you work for, it was a lot of fun. We're going to go home and get some rest and we'll be ready to go."
