DEKALB, IL – Freshman pitcher
Michael Lasiewicz earned Mid-American Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week honors Tuesday.
A native of McHenry, Illinois, Lasiewicz becomes the first freshman to earn the Pitcher of the Week honor since Jordan Ruckman received the distinction in the 2013 season.
"Well deserved award for Michael this week," Huskies' head coach
Mike Kunigonis said. "We look for him to have a good week of work and be ready to go again this Sunday."
Lasiewicz picked up his second-straight collegiate win as he tossed seven innings of four-hit ball in a 5-0 shutout over host Western Kentucky University Sunday. Lasiewicz struck out a six batters to up his season total to a team-best 14 all while keeping his earned run average at 0.00. The hard-throwing right-hander also walked only one batter and didn't give up an extra base hit.
