German to Test NBA Draft Process, Will Not Hire Agent

DEKALB, Ill. – Northern Illinois University sophomore Eugene German (Gary, Ind./21st Century Charter) has announced his intention to declare for the 2018 NBA Draft, without hiring an agent, maintaining his ability to return to college. 

As a sophomore, German led the Mid-American Conference in scoring at 20.6 points per game, which ranks 34th nationally. German scored in double figures in all 32 games during the 2017-18 season, including 18 games of 20-or-more points. The Gary, Ind., native scored 659 points this season, the third-most in a single season in NIU history. He shot 77.1 percent from the free-throw line, 12th-best in the MAC, and made 1.9 three-pointers per contest, 13th in the conference.

German was named to the All-MAC Second Team and was also named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 14 First Team. 

In two seasons at NIU, German has played in 63 games, including 38 starts, scoring 938 points with 164 rebounds. 

The NBA deadline to declare for early entry into the draft is April 22, the NBA Draft Combine will take place May 16-20 in Chicago and the NBA Draft is scheduled for June 21.
