Courtney Woods Named To All-MAC First Team

Redshirt-Senior Earns Second First Team Honor Of Career

DeKALB, IL – Redshirt-Senior forward Courtney Woods (Brisbane, Australia/St. Margaret's) of the Northern Illinois University women's basketball team was named to the All-MAC First Team Tuesday morning, as the Mid-American Conference announced its 2019-20 postseason awards.

Woods finished the season leading the Huskies with 18.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game. She is the first NIU women's basketball player since Ally Lehman in 2016-17 to lead NIU in points, rebounds, and assists per game. Woods averaged 19.4 points per game in MAC play, scoring at least 20 points 10 times with a pair of 30-point efforts in wins at Bowling Green on February 8 and at Toledo this past Saturday. She finished the regular season leading the MAC in free throw percentage at 85.3 percent, fifth in the MAC in scoring, ninth in three-pointers made per game with 2.14, and 10th in field goal percentage at 43.3 percent.

The redshirt-senior was named MAC West Player of the Week three times this season, including on Monday after averaging 28 points per game in NIU's wins over Ball State and Toledo to close the regular season. She was also named the MAC Female Scholar Athlete of the Week twice. This is Woods' second postseason All-MAC honor. She was an All-MAC First Team selection in 2018 after leading the league in scoring at 22.1 points per game, the third-highest single-season scoring average in NIU women's basketball history.

Woods finishes her NIU career as the program's all-time leader in three-pointers made with 323, games played with 130, and three-pointers in a season with 105 in 2016-17. She is second on the NIU career scoring list with 2,216 points. Woods scored in double figures in 109 of her 130 games, including Monday night's MAC Tournament First Round game at Eastern Michigan where she had 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
