A member of the football operations staff since 2013, Dan Wolfe was elevated to assistant athletic director for football operations in 2019. 

In his current role, Wolfe is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the NIU football program, including organizing team travel and planning recruiting visits. He helps develop and manage the budget and works closely with other offices both in the athletics department and throughout campus. Wolfe directs a four-person staff that is also responsible for summer camps, video exchange and coverage, managing NIU Football’s official social media accounts and producing highlight videos. They also coordinate the team’s community service activities, and assist the coaches and student-athletes with numerous off-the-field aspects.

The operations staff also coordinates and communicates the daily schedule for the team and coaching staff, sets up team meals both at home and on the road and arranges for guest speakers and career development. Wolfe is the primary liaison for NFL scouts. 

He was elevated to his current position after spending the previous six years as the Huskies’ director of football operations- internal. He was responsible for video exchange, organizing all summer camps, assisting with team travel, and hiring and supervising students for operations, video and coaching.

Wolfe came to NIU after three seasons at Bucknell University where he was administrative football coordinator. At Bucknell, he coordinated on-campus recruiting visits, football camps, team travel and video. He served as assistant to the head coach and was the liaison between the football program and university academic and administrative offices.

He spent one season as the assistant to the director of football operations at Iowa, where he coordinated the Hawkeyes’ summer camps and coaches’ clinic, as well as team functions.

Wolfe graduated from the University of Iowa in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in history. He was a football student operations manager for three years, and in 2007, served as the head student operations manager where he led Iowa’s 11 student managers.

Wolfe, a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has a son, Liam and a daughter, Elsie.
