Listening is a key skill emphasized by the athletic training staff at Northern Illinois University to give each individual student-athlete the greatest possible opportunity to compete at his or her best. Led by Assistant Athletic Director for Health Care Administration, Phil Voorhis, the athletic training staff serves the student-athletes at NIU and are an integral part of the student-athlete experience.
With locations in the Yordon Center, Huskie Stadium, and the NIU Convocation Center, the staff is able to provide world class health care to all student-athletes. The staff has access to consulting doctors and health care professionals on call in the community in virtually every area of medicine. Experience, equipped facilities, access and professionalism are all vital to the outstanding reputation built by NIU athletic training and sports medicine.Â
Athletic trainers work to prevent injury during competition and provide outstanding rehabilitation and recovery so student-athletes can return to competition healthy.Â
