DeKALB, Ill. - Northern Illinois kicker Chris Nendick claimed the MAC West Special Teams Player of the Week honor after a 19-point performance against Temple in the Huskies' 43-21 victory Saturday. The Naperville native connected on five field goals to equal the NIU single-game record, and had seven attempts to set a school standard.
Nendick connected on field goals of 36, 24, 22, 36, and 21 yards, and went four-for-four on PATs as NIU rolled to a homecoming triumph over the Owls.
The league honor is the second of the season for Nendick, who nabbed the award after a 12-point performance against Indiana State on Sept. 23, and the third of his career.
Nendick currently leads the MAC in kick-scoring with 69 points and field goals with 15. He has 245 career points, which ranks third on the NIU career kick-scoring list and fourth among the school's all-time scorers.
NIU returns to action Saturday, Oct. 28, at Iowa in an 11 a.m. CT kickoff on ESPNU.
