NIU vs. Iowa Post-Game Notes

Oct. 28, 2006

Final Stats

***NIU linebacker Tim McCarthy intercepted his second pass of the year, and made the Huskies' fourth INT of the season, on the first drive. McCarthy now leads NIU in interceptions on the season.

***Senior CB Adriel Hansbro recorded his first career sack in the second quarter. Hansbro also had a forced fumble on the day.

***With a sack today, Larry English now has nine sacks on the season which is the highest single season total for an NIU player since 2002, when Larry Williams led NIU with 10. Since Northern Illinois began keeping sack totals in 1984, the highest single season total by a Huskie player is 12 in 1984 (Scott Kellar).

***Dustin Utschig's 15 total tackles today were the most by an NIU player this year and tied the senior's career high, set last season at Toledo.

***Chris Nendick extended his consecutive games scoring streak to 33 games with a pair of extra points. The NIU kicker now has scored 247 career points and needs seven points to climb onto fourth place on the Northern Illinois all-time scoring list.

***The 25-yard touchdown reception by Britt Davis marked the third consecutive game in which he has caught a scoring strike. Davis remains NIU's leading receiver with 36 catches.

***Garrett Wolfe moved into third place on the all-time MAC rushing list and now has 4,715 career yards. Wolfe passed Chester Taylor of Toledo (4,659) and now trails only NIU's Michael Turner (4,941) and Travis Prentice of Miami (5,596) on the MAC rushing list.

***Wolfe also now ranks fifth on the MAC career chart for all-purpose yards with 5,506. He needs 221 yards to move past Eastern Michigan's Gary Patton into fourth.

***Tight end Brandon Davis tied his career high with four catches. That equaled his total in the Ball State game earlier this season.

***Wolfe totaled 92 all-purpose yards to account for 47 percent of NIU's 196 yards of total offense on the game. With three catches today, Wolfe has 21 catches on the season to establish a new high for a single season. His previous season high was 20 catches a year ago.
