YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) -Garrett Wolfe rushed for 164 yards and a touchdown as Northern Illinois beat Eastern Michigan 27-0 on Friday to record the Huskies' first shut out in 52 games, since Oct. 19, 1992.
Wolfe set a new Northern Illinois school record with his 22nd career game rushing for at least 100 yards. The nation's leading rusher finished with 164 yards on 27 carries. He also is now the all-time leader in yards per carry with 6.53, breaking the mark of DeAngelo Williams (6.22) set last year.
The Huskies (7-5, 5-3 Mid-American Conference) led 21-0 at halftime after scoring twice in the final four minutes of the second quarter.
Dan Nicholson, making his first start of the season, threw for 261 yards in the game and a pair of TDs (17 and 4 yards) to go along with Wolfe's 2-yard scoring run.
Chris Nendick added field goals of 32 and 30 yards.
Eastern Michigan (1-11, 1-7 MAC) was shut out in a conference game for the first time since 2000. The Eagles moved inside the Huskies' 20-yard line once and squandered its only scoring chance when Andrew Wellock's fourth-quarter 41-yard field goal missed wide left.
