DeKALB, Ill. - The Northern Illinois women's soccer team continues the non-conference portion of its schedule this weekend with a road match Friday night at Wisconsin-Green Bay and a home tilt Sunday afternoon against DePaul.
NIU currently is 1-2-1 after notching a 1-1 tie Monday afternoon against Missouri Valley Conference Favorite Creighton. Through the season's first four games, NIU is led in scoring by Karen Enockson, who owns a team-high two goals and an assist. Also tied for the team's goal lead is freshman Kim Schmitt.
In the net, Lindsey Curnock has played all 380 minutes this season while posting a 1.42 goals against average and 20 saves along with one shutout.
The Huskies have outshot their opponents 50-40 on the year and are averaging 1.66 goals per game.
UW-Green Bay is 1-2 on the season after opening with a shutout over Illinois State. The Phoenix dropped two matches over the weekend at the University of Nevada Tournament in Reno.
DePaul is currently 1-2-1 and owns a 2-0 victory over Eastern Washington and a 1-1 tie with Eastern Illinois. The Blue Demons dropped their last outing, 1-0, at Drake and host Southeast Missouri State on Friday before traveling to DeKalb.
"Playing great teams makes us better and we are always using these games to get us better prepared for MAC competition," said assistant coach Paul Jobson. "Green Bay is one of the top teams in the Horizon League and will be another road challenge for us. DePaul is an in-state rival and a lot of the girls know each other from playing in high school and on club teams."
NIU owns a 6-6 all-time record against UWGB and against DePaul, the Huskies are 3-1 including a 1-0 victory over the Blue Demons last September in Chicago.
Friday night's match in Green Bay begins at 7 p.m. while Sunday's tilt against DePaul at the Huskie Soccer Field is set for a 3:30 p.m. start.
