IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Northern Illinois's men's tennis team came up short against the Iowa Hawkeyes Sunday, losing 5-2. The Huskies finished the day with two singles wins and one doubles victory.

NIU's Brian Livingston and Alex Friesen both won their matches. Livingston beat Iowa's Bart van Monsjou 6-0, 6-2, while Friesen defeated Christian Bierich 6-4, 6-4.

"It was kind of the same story as yesterday," head coach Pontus Hiort said. "We had some guys that played well and guys that didn't play as well as they could have. If we just played a little bit better in some spots the match would have gone the other way."

The doubles combination of Jimmy Chu / Alex Friesen beat Iowa's Gregory Holm / Christian Bierich 8-6, but NIU did not garner enough doubles victories to get the doubles point.

The Huskies are next in action Saturday, Feb. 3 at Indiana University.
