AMES, Iowa - Sophomore Duke Burk and redshirt freshman Pat McLemore earned tournament championships for the Northern Illinois wrestling team at the Cyclone Open, Saturday.

"Two champions is respectable," NIU head coach Dave Grant said. "We wrestled well, and we wrestled some pretty good people."

Burk (Peoria, Ill./Notre Dame H.S.), the 14th-ranked 174-pounder in the nation, improved his season record to 5-0, defeating Brian Cauley of Lindenwood in the final.

McLemore (Hinckley, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) avenged a season-opening loss to Iowa State's Nick Gallick at 141 pounds. McLemore cradled the 14th-ranked sophomore at 2:27 for a pin to claim the title.

"It's a big accomplishment for him to get his first tournament win," Grant said.

NIU senior Pat Castillo (Western Springs, Ill./Lyons Township) earned a runner-up spot at the tournament, making it to the finals before falling 3-2 to No. 7 Nick Fanthorpe at 133 pounds.

The Huskies finished the night with 11 place-finishers, including four at 141 pounds. McLemore finished first, while teammates Dan Ruettiger (fourth), Vince Castillo (fifth) and Tristen DeShazer (sixth) also placed.

Northern Illinois returns to action Nov. 24 for the Rochester Duals, where they will face No. 1 Minnesota, as well as North Dakota State and Northern Colorado.
