DeKALB, Ill. - The Huskies are coming to Chicago this Thursday, May 10, as the annual Huskie Spring Caravan makes a stop at Goose Island (3535 N. Clark St.) in Chicago from 6-8 p.m. Northern Illinois fans and local supporters are invited to come out and meet NIU coaches and staff, including football coach Joe Novak, new men's basketball coach Ricardo Patton and women's basketball coach Carol Owens, win door prizes and enjoy plenty of Huskie sports talk.
Admission to the Huskie Caravan stop event is free. During the evening, fans will hear from Novak, Patton and Owens and get the latest information on all of the Huskie happenings. Fans will also be able to visit one-on-one with the NIU head coaches, assistant coaches and other members of the athletics staff.
Fans who cannot make the Goose Island gathering, as well as fans in attendance, can still get the latest from the Huskies' coaches by listening to The Score (WSCR 670 AM). Brian Paruch will broadcast live from Goose Island from 6-8 p.m. and have interviews with both Novak and Patton.
Information on purchasing 2007 football season tickets as well as tickets to the 2007 season opening game versus Iowa on Sept. 1 at Soldier Field will be available. Fans can also join or renew their membership in the Huskie Athletic Scholarship Fund to receive priority seating locations for 2007 Northern Illinois home games as well as road contests at Wisconsin and Navy.
The NIU Athletics Spring Caravans are held as part of the Huskie Athletic Scholarship Fund Spring Drive, the annual effort to increase membership in the program's primary direct support organization. The HASF provides critical resources to each of NIU's 17-sport programs and 486 student-athletes.
