AKRON, Ohio (AP) -- Darion Anderson scored 24 points with 10 rebounds and Michael Patton added 22 points to lead Northern Illinois to an 88-78 win over Akron on Tuesday night.
Anderson was 8-of-11 shooting, including two 3-pointers, as the Huskies shot 65 percent for the game and snapped a five-game losing streak.
Ahead 65-64 in the second half, the Huskies got a layup from Jarvis Nichols that sparked a decisive 13-5 run, giving them a 9-point lead with 1:55 remaining.
Ben Rand scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Nichols finished with 10 for Northern Illinois (6-17, 3-8 Mid-American).
Nick Dials led Akron (17-7, 7-4) with 17 points. Nate Linhart scored 15 points and Chris McKnight added 11 for the Zips, who lost their first game at home this season.
