Q&A With Sophomore Forward Bristan Kelley

Sophomore forward Bristan Kelley enters his second season as a member of the NIU men's basketball team and the Lee's Summit, Missouri native took some time out of his day to let Huskie fans learn more about himself.

Major: Finance. I like Math.

Favorite Musical Artist: Jay-Z. He's good at what he does.

Favorite Sports Movie: White Men Can't Jump - It's very funny.

Favorite TV Show: Sportscenter. I like seeing all the stat lines.

Favorite Sports Broadcaster: Stephen A. Smith. The way he acts, cracks me up.

Favorite Pro Sports Team: Kansas City Chiefs, because that's my home town.

Favorite Athlete: Kevin Garnett. He's a beast and he does it all.

Childhood Idol: My brother Jibran. He always looked out for me.

Team I'd like to see added to the schedule: Kansas. Coach Patton always says we are preparing for teams like Kansas, so I'd like to see if we are ready.

Best Player I Ever Faced: [Arizona sophomore] Chase Budinger. He can do it all.

Best Player I Ever Played With: [North Carolina junior] Tyler Hansbrough. He is a very smart player.

Toughest Place I Ever Played: Raytown South High School. They were our division rival in high school.

Biggest Fear: Snakes. They creep me out.

Most Famous Person I Ever Met: Keyshawn Johnson. I met him while I was in Florida for an AAU tournament.

Most People Don't Know This But: I used to be in choir. I got vocal skills.

Most Prized Possession: A picture of my family. They are the biggest part of my life.

Places I'd like to visit: The Bahamas. I have a lot of family there.

Best Part About Living in DeKalb: It's quiet. I like how calm it is.

Best Moment at NIU: My first start in a home game, because the Convocation Center had a lot of people in it.

My First Memory of Basketball: Beating my brother in basketball outside our house, because I had never done it before.

I Wear My Jersey Number 31 Because: My brother was 33 in college and I'm two inches shorter than him.

My Most Memorable Moment In College Athletics: My first NIU football game. It was real exciting.

If I Didn't Play College Basketball I Would Play: Football. I think I would be good at it.

Who Had the Greatest Impact on My Life: My Parents. They always watch out for me.

Pre-Game Rituals: I always take a nap and I put my jersey on last.

The Person I Would Choose to Be Stranded on a Deserted Island With: My Mom. Whatever she cooked would taste good.

Best Advice From A Coach: Find the message in the madness. Whenever a coach is yelling at you, try to find out what they are talking about and work on it.
