Buffalo, N.Y. - Freshman Emily Rogers picked up her third-straight victory and team-high 10th win overall but represented the lone point for NIU on the day as the Huskies dropped a 6-1 decision at Buffalo Saturday afternoon. The Huskies record now stands at 5-10 overall and 1-3 in Mid-American Conference play.

The Huskies received a victory at No. 2 doubles as Kathryn Friedlund and Sara McLaughlin battled to an 8-6 win but the No. 1 duo of Lilian Asuaje and Rogers fell 8-0 and Brooke Forsberg and Stephanie Okuma dropped an 8-3 decision at the No. 3 position.

"It was a tough day but we battled really well," said NIU head coach Ryun Ferrell. "I was very pleased with our effort and I like the direction this squad is headed in. Buffalo is a very good squad and we laid it all on the line today."

NIU suffered straight-set defeats at the top three singles positions, as Asuaje (6-0, 6-2) and Friedlund (6-0, 6-3) fell at No. 1 and No. 2 and Martina Schnapp, playing at the No. 3 slot, dropped a 6-3, 7-5 decision.

Rogers, who was moved up from the No. 5 position before Friday's match at Akron, battled to pick up a come-from-behind victory at No. 4 singles. After falling 1-6 in the first set, Rogers posted a 6-2 victory in the second set and a 6-3 triumph in the third set clinched her second-straight win at the No. 4 position.

Brooke Forsberg fell 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and Sara McLaughlin dropped a hard-fought match at the No. 6 position, 7-5, 7-6.

On the road for the past three weeks, NIU will return home for the first time since March 6 when the Huskies host a pair of matches next weekend. The Huskies will first take on Bowling Green, Friday, April 3 and then face Western Michigan, Saturday, April 4. Both matches are set to begin at 1 p.m.
