Week's Achievements: Xavier Silas averaged 29.5 points and 6.5 rebounds on the week as NIU defeated Akron and fell on the road at Buffalo. Silas opened the week with 39 points and eight rebounds in the victory over the Zips. He was 9-of-17 from the field in the contest, including 5-of-9 from beyond the three-point line, and 16-of-20 from the free-throw line. Silas then added a team-high 20 points and five rebounds at Buffalo. For the week, Silas shot 40.6 percent from the floor, 41.7 percent from three and 84.8 percent from the charity stripe. At 24.2 points per game, Silas is currently tied for second in the nation in scoring.
 Week's Achievements: Courtney Oldenburg earned two first place finishes at the IWU Invitational.  The first came in the 4x800 meter relay as she teamed with Rebecca Cronin, Nora Ferguson and Sunsea Shaw to set the second school record of the afternoon with a time of 9:44.70.  The previous record of 11:28.60 had stood for 32 years before the quartet obliterated the mark.  Oldenburg’s second first place finish came in the 1-mile run with a time of 5:14.73.
