ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Northern Illinois women’s tennis team suffered a 4-3 setback against Chicago State on Saturday evening at the Boylan Tennis Center. The Huskies and Cougars split the singles matches, but Chicago State’s point in the doubles proved to be the difference in the dual.
“This was a tough day for our team,” said NIU head coach Ryun Ferrell. “With all of the difficulties we have had to endure, from injuries to sickness, we are bound for some good. We had a good meeting after the match and everyone is in from here on out. This team wants success and they aren’t making any excuses for themselves.”
Chicago State took two of the doubles matches to claim the early match lead. NIU took third doubles by default and the Cougars won at number one 8-0, leaving the doubles point down to flight two.
