DEKALB, Ill. - Junior guard Bryan Hall of the Northern Illinois men's basketball team was selected to the Academic All-MAC Honorable Mention team the conference office announced on Tuesday. Hall is one of 10 players in the MAC to earn academic all-conference recognition.
Hall, a business major with a 3.414 grade point average, appeared in 23 games this past season for the Huskies, including 21 starts before being slowed by a hamstring injury at the end of the season. The Chicago native averaged 3.8 points per game on the season while shooting 44.2 percent from the field. Hall also averaged 2.8 assists per contest, 14th-best in the conference, and 1.3 steals per game, 12th-most in the league.
Hall recorded a team-best 1.7 assist-to-turnover ratio this past season and scored a career-high 13 points in a New Year's Eve victory over Utah Valley.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
