DeKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) annual food drive starts on Monday, November 3rd and will conclude at the NIU football game on Tuesday, November 11th as the Huskies face Toledo at 7 p.m.
The SAAC will be collecting canned food items in the DeKalb community throughout the next week to be served at the DeKalb area Salvation Army food pantry.
Then, the SAAC will finish its annual food drive from 5:30-7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11th prior to the NIU versus Toledo football game at Huskie Stadium. SAAC members and Salvation Army volunteers will stand on the west side of the stadium by the kettle bells to collect food during this time period.
In exchange for canned food donated on game day or at SAAC door-to-door collections in the week leading up to it, individuals who contribute will receive a $14 ticket voucher for the game as the Huskies take on the Rockets in a crucial MAC West showdown in front of a nationally televised audience.
Up to four (4) west side tickets for the game can be received, and tickets are redeemable at the NIU ticket office or at Huskie Stadium on the day of the event. Walkups are welcome and encouraged.
All canned food donations received during the annual SAAC Food Drive will be passed along to the Salvation Army for distribution to help feed the hungry this holiday season.
