NIU Scholar Athletes of the Week: Nov. 23-29

Nov. 30, 2015 DeKALB, Ill. - Each week, NIU honors two student-athletes that exemplify the concept of the "student-athlete" supremely well. These students excel both in the classroom and on the playing field. This week, the honorees are William Lee of football and Lacia Gorman from women's basketball.

NIU student-athletes won 10 times during the 2014-15 season, tied for the most in the conference, and have already won three times this year as well.

Week's Achievements:
William Lee added to his sack tally last Tuesday against Ohio as the sophomore defensive tackle recorded his second half-sack of the season. With the defense on the field for much of the game, Lee also tallied three tackles in one of his most-involved games of the season as, even in defeat, the Huskies clinched their sixth consecutive trip to the MAC Championship Game last week.
 Week's Achievements:
Lacia Gorman contributed in all facets of the game last week as the NIU women’s basketball team recorded victories over Eastern Illinois and Cal State Fullerton. The senior guard started in each game, played more than 30 minutes per contest and shot 42.9 percent for the week. Gorman also posted an eight-rebound, six-assist effort in the Huskies’ win over Cal State Fullerton in Dallas.
