Feb. 16, 2015 DeKALB, Ill. - Each week, NIU honors two student-athletes that exemplify the concept of the "student-athlete" supremely well. These students excel both in the classroom and on the playing field. This week, the honorees are Brian Sisler from baseball and Samantha Coyne from women's golf.

Week's Achievements: Brian Sisler began 2015 just like he ended 2014 – as a hit machine. The junior shortstop from DeKalb, Ill. hit .571 in three games to help NIU baseball to a 3-0 start. Carrying over a 16-game hit streak from the end of last season, Sisler picked up hits in all three of the Huskie victories last weekend and now owns the 3rd-longest hit streak in NIU history at 19 games. The Huskies defeated South Dakota State twice and Niagara – with Sisler exploding for a 5-for-5 game with six runs batted in the 15-5 win over Niagara. In total, Sisler went 8-for-14 with three doubles and seven RBIs during opening weekend.	Week's Achievements: Samantha Coyne helped the Huskies win the MAC Match Play championship last week at the Lakewood Ranch Country Club in Lakewood, Fla. The junior from Bartlett, Ill. won all three of her matches in the tournament as NIU defeated Ohio in the quarterfinals, Western Michigan in the semifinals and Eastern Michigan in the finals to start the spring 2015 season with a bang. Coyne knocked off Julie Lechner from Ohio 3&1, Anna Wilcoxson from Western Michigan 2Up and Thelma Black from Eastern Michigan 2&1 throughout the tournament – winning each match comfortably.
