DEKALB, Ill. -- Voting is now open for the NIU Athletics Play of the Year, to be presented at the sixth annual "Victors" awards banquet on Monday, April 27 at the historic Egyptian Theatre in downtown DeKalb.
Huskie fans are encouraged to watch the video and vote on their favorite play. The nominees for play of the year are:
Paris Logan's interception at Northwestern, Lauren Gierman's goal at Central Michigan, Richard Hall's goal against SIU Edwardsville, Pete Rakocevic's dunk against Central Michigan and
Amanda Stepp's 9.900 vault against Eastern Michigan
Voting for Play of the Year ends on Wednesday, April 22.
In addition to the Play of the Year, finalists for each of the other 24 awards have been determined and are listed below. NIU coaches nominated student-athletes for the awards and that list was narrowed down to the finalists in each category by members of the Huskie Athletics Student Services Committee. Winners for the awards will be selected by a vote from each team and each office within the athletic department.
An all-sports, ESPY-style awards show, "The Victors" features live performances and presentations by several NIU student-athletes. A total of 26 awards will be presented, honoring the accomplishments of NIU student-athletes from the 2014 spring, 2014 fall and 2014-15 winter sports seasons.
Huskie fans and friends interested in attending The Victors can purchase tickets for $20 by calling 815-758-1225.
