NIU Scholar Athletes of the Week: Jan. 4-10

Jan. 11, 2016 DeKALB, Ill. - Each week, NIU honors two student-athletes that exemplify the concept of the "student-athlete" supremely well. These students excel both in the classroom and on the playing field. This week, the honorees are Chuks Iroegbu of men's basketball and Kedisha Dallas from women's track & field.

NIU student-athletes won 10 times during the 2014-15 season, tied for the most in the conference, and have already won four times this year as well.

Week's Achievements:
Chuks Iroegbu was nearly perfect and had his second highest scoring output of the season on Saturday evening, posting 14 points on 4-of-4 shooting from the field and 6-of-7 from the free throw line while adding two rebounds and one assist as the Huskies beat Eastern Michigan 80-63 to claim first place in the MAC West at 2-0. Iroegbu also played 23 minutes with six points and four rebounds on Wednesday when the Huskies opened MAC play with an 80-69 victory over Ohio.
 Week's Achievements:
Kedisha Dallas led the way for the Huskies as they finished second overall at Purdue’s Gene Edmonds Cup on Saturday, setting two school records in the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash with top-two performances. Dallas claimed first in the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.43 seconds to break a school record that had stood since 2012 before re-setting her own 200-meter dash and claiming second in the event with a time of 24.22 seconds.
