DEKALB – The NIU women's soccer team (4-9-4, 3-5-2 MAC) will finish off the regular season in Kalamazoo, Mich. to face Western Michigan (11-6-1, 5-4-1 MAC) Thursday.
The Huskies are coming off of back-to-back losses against Toledo and Bowling Green and now sit in eighth place at 11 points. NIU goalkeeper
MacKenzie Lee (Yorkville, Ill./Yorkville) made the last two starts in net for the Huskies after
Amy Annala (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) suffered an injury in the game against Buffalo. In her two starts, Lee has made ten saves and allowed three goals.
Western Michigan has scored 32 goals this season with their top two point scorers, Alyssa Burke and Liz Abro each having 14 points. The keeper for the Broncos, Stephanie Heber, has allowed 19 goals and made 52 saves in 16 games played for a .732 save percentage and a 1.27 goals against average.
The top eight teams get into the MAC Tournament and the Huskies will lock in their spot with a win on Thursday. If NIU ties Western Michigan they need a Bowling Green loss or tie and if they lose they need a loss from Bowling Green and a tie or loss from Ohio.
Kickoff in Kalamazoo will be at 2:00 p.m. central with other games that could impact NIU will also start at the same time.
