The Northern Illinois University wrestling team begins Mid-American Conference action on Tuesday when they host Old Dominion University at the Convocation Center for a dual matchup at 7 p.m.
 
The Huskies (2-1/ 0-0 MAC) are coming off a strong showing at the Michigan State Open. Ten Huskies reached the podium, led by heavyweight champion, Caleb Gossett (St. Charles, Mo/Francis Howell Central).
 
Scouting the Competition
The Huskies fell to the Monarchs in their last meeting after the Monarchs were awarded the extra criteria point and the team victory for winning six of the 10 individual matches.
 
Two ninth-ranked wrestlers, Jack Dechow (7-2/2-1) and Kevin Beazley (7-1/2-1), lead the Monarchs at 184 and 197, respectively. Other starters to watch are 14th-ranked Seldon Wright (5-3/1-2) at 165-pounds and 19th-ranked Brandon Jeske (0-0) at 125-pounds.
 
Coach's Corner
"Every week of training is a step in the right direction toward our ultimate goals. That being said, our short term goal is to bring as much focus and intensity to this dual meet tomorrow as possible," said NIU wrestling head coach Ryan Ludwig. "We are looking forward to competing in a great home match environment."
