Huskies to Host West Virginia on Senior Night

DEKALB, Ill. -- The Northern Illinois University men's soccer team will wrap up the 2016 season on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m., as the Huskies host West Virginia. Saturday night's contest is Senior Night and will also feature a Huskie Soccer Scarf giveaway to NIU Students.

The first 50 NIU students to check into the Red-Black Rewards App and show our marketing staff, will receive a voucher redeemable for an NIU Soccer Scarf at the beginning of the second half.

Prior to the game, the Huskies will honor their five seniors: Daegan DeBono (Lapeer, Mich./Lapeer West), Richard Hall (Billericay, England/The Billericay School), Albert Levett (Southend-on-Sea, England/Belfairs High), Adam Lightner (O'Fallon, Mo./Fort Zumwalt West) and Cody Witkowski (Batavia, Ill./Batavia), who will be playing their final game at NIU.

The five members of the NIU Soccer Senior Class have combined to play in 227 career matches for the Huskies, which includes 151 starts.

"There is a lot to play for tomorrow night," said NIU head coach Eric Luzzi. "It is our Senior Night, so we will be honoring the careers of these five guys who have given a lot to our program over the last four years and we obviously want to send them off with a positive result.

"From West Virginia's perspective, they are in a place where they will be in the conversation, based on their RPI, for a NCAA at-large bid, so I know they will come in here tomorrow fired up because there is a lot riding on this game from their side."

West Virginia comes to DeKalb with an 8-6-1 record, 1-3 in Mid-American Conference play. Jad Arslan and Felix Angerer each have nine points to lead the way for the Mountaineers; Arslan has four goals and one assist while Angerer has three goals and three assists. Jose Santos has played every minute of all 15 matches in goal for West Virginia, he has a 0.72 goals against average and a .807 save percentage. The Mountaineers enter the week ranked 30th in the latest RPI.

The all-time series between the Huskies and Mountaineers is tied, 2-2-1, with all five meetings coming since West Virginia joined the MAC in men's soccer for the 2012 season. Last year, West Virginia earned a 3-2 home victory over the Huskies.
