NIU Scholar Athletes of the Week: Jan. 25-31

Feb. 1, 2016 DeKALB, Ill. - Each week, NIU honors two student-athletes that exemplify the concept of the "student-athlete" supremely well. These students excel both in the classroom and on the playing field. This week, the honorees are Andrew Morse of wrestling and Cassidy Glenn of women's basketball.

NIU student-athletes won 10 times during the 2014-15 season, tied for the most in the conference, and have already won four times this year as well.

Week's Achievements:
After months of struggling with injury, Andrew Morse picked up his first win of the 2015-16 wrestling season at the perfect time for NIU. The senior 157-pounder helped the Huskies notch their first MAC victory of the season on Saturday as NIU won at Eastern Michigan, 21-9. Morse played a big role with his 8-2 decision over EMU’s Devan Marry at 157 pounds, which gave the Huskies a 12-3 lead at the time and marked Morse’s first MAC dual win since last season.
 Week's Achievements:
Cassidy Glenn garnered national attention after hitting the first NIU women’s basketball buzzer-beater since 2010, earning the No. 4 play on ESPN SportsCenter on Saturday night with her deep 3-pointer that won the game for the Huskies at the horn, 76-74 over Buffalo. Glenn’s heroic shot was her career-best third 3-pointer of the game as the junior forward tallied 13 points and also tied a career high with seven rebounds in her first start since returning from a concussion.
