Week's Achievements: Brandon Mallder found ways to produce runs for the NIU baseball team over the weekend as the Huskies opened MAC play with a series victory at Ohio. With runs at a premium in the series, Mallder scored the crucial runs in each of NIU’s victory. He scored what would be in the winning run in the fourth inning of a 2-0 victory on Friday and also tallied a key insurance run in the eighth inning of Sunday’s 3-1 victory. The versatile junior led the Huskies with a .333 batting average for the weekend with three hits and two walks, reaching base in 5-of-11 at-bats. He also had a perfect series in the field at multiple positions with 15 put-outs and three assists.

Week's Achievements: Kayti Grable had another incredible week at the plate for NIU in the opening weekend of MAC play as the Huskies swept a three-game series at Bowling Green. She batted .625 and slugged 1.750, going 5-for-8, including three home runs, with nine RBIs and five runs scored in the series. The junior catcher helped NIU extend its season-long winning streak to 14 games, second best in school history. Grable hit a home run in each of the three games with the Falcons, including her first career grand slam. She went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored in the 8-0 five-inning series opener She was 1-for-2 in game two with her lone hit being a grand slam in the second inning of a 13-1 triumph. In the series finale, Grable provided all the offense the Huskies would need as she belted a two-run first-inning homer in NIU’s 2-1 win over Bowling Green, giving the Huskies a perfect 3-0 record on the week.
