NIU Scholar Athletes of the Week: April 4-10

April 11, 2016 DeKALB, Ill. - Each week, NIU honors two student-athletes that exemplify the concept of the "student-athlete" supremely well. These students excel both in the classroom and on the playing field. This week, the honorees are Brian Sisler of baseball and Lena Gautier of women's golf.

NIU student-athletes won 10 times during the 2014-15 season, tied for the most in the conference, and have already won seven times this year as well.

Week's Achievements:
Brian Sisler had a tremendous week for the NIU baseball team, helping the Huskies put up 10 runs at Minnesota and win a series against Central Michigan. The senior shortstop from DeKalb hit .333 (6-for-18) in the four games last week, tallying four runs batted in, three runs scored and two doubles to boost the NIU run production. Largely thanks to his four-hit game in the series-opening win over the Chippewas, Sisler brought up his season batting average to .266 with a strong week.
 Week's Achievements:
Lena Gautier tallied her seventh top-10 finish of the season last week, taking sixth place at the Kansas City Shootout with three rounds in the 70s. The junior from France was in the top five for most of the tournament after beginning the event with rounds of 73 and 74 last Monday and her sixth-place finish with a final three-round score of 226 was tops on the NIU women’s golf team at the event, where the Huskies finished fifth out of 13 teams.
