2016 NIU Football Schedule
DeKALB, Ill. – Northern Illinois University’s 2016 home opener versus San Diego State on September 17 at Huskie Stadium will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network and kick off at 2:30 p.m. (CT), highlighting the Mid-American Conference’s release of additional game times and television broadcast networks Thursday.
The league also announced that NIU’s 110th Homecoming game versus Buffalo on October 22 also will have a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff time. Both of NIU’s November home games – the Bowling Green contest on Tuesday, November 1 at Huskie Stadium and the Huskie Chi-Town Showdown versus Toledo at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago on Wednesday, November 9 – will begin at 7 p.m. and be televised on either ESPN2 or ESPNU.
On the road, the start time for the Huskies’ game at Western Michigan on Saturday, October 8 is set for 5:30 p.m. CT with the television network to be announced 12 days prior to the game. The Huskies’ game at Eastern Michigan on Wednesday, November 16 has a start time of either 6 or 7 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on ESPN2 or ESPNU.
The addition of the San Diego State to NIU’s TV broadcast schedule for 2016 gives the Huskies a minimum of five national television broadcasts as the MAC’s most successful program this decade continues to be highlighted during November midweek #MACtion broadcasts. The Huskies can also be seen twice in September on CBS Sports Network in 2016.
The remainder of the MAC’s television schedule, along with game times, will be announced 12 days prior to each home game. This includes NIU’s home games on Saturday, September 24 versus Western Illinois and Saturday, October 15 versus Central Michigan.
Today’s announcement of game times for four of NIU’s six home games gives fans another reason to purchase season tickets – on sale for as little as $99 – now AND take advantage of the current “Dog Deals” offer. Through tomorrow at 5 p.m., all current season ticket members (football or volleyball) and Huskie Athletic Fund donors can purchase single game tickets for any Huskie Stadium home game for just $15. If friends are coming in for Homecoming or to the San Diego State or Western Illinois game, now is the time to purchase tickets for the lowest prices of the year before single game tickets go on sale in August. This special “Dog Deals” pricing end Friday at 5 p.m. (CT).
