DEKALB, Ill. -- The Northern Illinois University men's basketball team will host Milwaukee on Wednesday night, Nov. 29, in the second game of a doubleheader. The NIU women's basketball team will host Bradley at 6 p.m., with the men's game against Milwaukee slated to begin at 8:30 p.m.
The On Broadway Dancers will perform at halftime while the Epsilon Phi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., will be performing at halftime of the women's contest.
The Huskies will be playing their second home game in four days after dispatching of Rockford University, 105-53, on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 26) to improve to 4-2. Sophomore
Eugene German (Gary, Ind./21st Century Charter) scored a game-high 16 points and currently leads the Huskies at 17.3 points per game, eighth-best in the Mid-American Conference.
Junior
Levi Bradley (Milwaukee, Wis./Pius XI) ranks second on the team, and 12th in the MAC, averaging 16.5 points per game. Bradley is shooting 52.3 percent (34-of-65) from the field, tied for 14th in the league, and 93.1 percent (27-of-29) from the free-throw line, third-best in the conference. Junior
Dante Thorpe (Washington, D.C./Triton College) is the third Huskie scoring in double figures at 10.2 points per contest, Thorpe ranks fourth in the MAC shooting 61.5 percent (24-of-39) from the field.
Milwaukee brings a 4-2 overall record to DeKalb that includes a victory at Iowa State on Nov. 13 (74-56). Last time out, Milwaukee fell at Wisconsin, 71-49, (Nov. 24). Three players are scoring in double figures for the Panthers, led by 13.2 points per contest from Brock Stull. Bryce Nze (11.8 ppg) and Bryce Barnes (10.0 ppg) are also scoring in double figures for Milwaukee, who leads the Horizon League in turnovers per game, committing just 11.3 per contest.
NIU leads the all-time series against Milwaukee, 17-12, but the Panthers have won the last four meetings in the series. Milwaukee won the last meeting, 82-69, on Nov. 27, 2013; NIU's last win in the series came on Jan. 4, 1997, a 72-58 victory in DeKalb.
