ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University women's tennis team completed the sweep of its matches this weekend with victories over in-state foes Bradley and Western Illinois at the Rockford Boylan Tennis Center Sunday afternoon.
 
The Huskies (5-2) posted a 5-2 win over Bradley in the first match of the day, then recorded a 6-0 shutout of Western Illinois in the afternoon. The Huskies and Leathernecks decided before the match to play the doubles matches only if necessary.
 
Adey Osabuohien (Hazel Crest, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor), Raven Neely (Grosse Point, Mich./Grosse Point South) and Pauline Chawafambira (Dangamvura, Mutare, Zimbabwe) each went a perfect 2-0 on the day at No. 1, 2 and 3 singles, respectively.
 
Meghan Montgomerie (Irvine, Scotland/Beaconhurst) and Evelyn Youel (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake Central) each scored a win at No. 6 singles. Montgomerie posted a 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 victory over Bradley's Julie Martin, while Youel capped NIU's 6-0 win over Western Illinois with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 win over Cary Milanes.
 
Osabuohien and Neely improved to 5-0 at No. 1 doubles with their victory over Bradley's Alejandra de Lasa and Natalia Barbery with a 6-2 victory.
 
"I'm proud of the way the team competed this weekend," said NIU head coach Tanya Mahefu. "We were able to dig deep in some tough situations and I believe those experiences helped us get better as a team for our matches ahead. We look forward to hosting a tough Illinois State team next weekend."
 
The NIU women's tennis team returns to the court Saturday when the Huskies play host to Illinois State at the Boylan Tennis Center in Rockford. The match begins at 10 a.m.
