DEKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University Women's Tennis team returns to action this weekend when the Huskies travel to Ypsilanti, Mich. Friday.
NIU (6-10, 0-2) will take on Eastern Michigan at 12 p.m. and will play host to Toledo at the West Tennis Courts, weather permitting, Sunday at 1 p.m. All times listed are Central. If there is inclement weather on Sunday, the match with Toledo will be moved to the Boylan Tennis Center in Rockford.
"The team is excited to compete in these big matches this weekend," said NIU head coach Tonya Mahefu. "We have had a good week of practice leading up to these two matches.
NIU, which saw its doubles play improve during its trip to Florida, continued to be strong in conference play. The No. 1 doubles' team of
Adey Osabuohien (Hazel Crest, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) and
Raven Neely (Grosse Point, Mich./Grosse Point South) won both their matches last weekend versus Miami and Ball State.
In addition, both Osabuohien and Neely each won a singles match. Osabouhien won a 6-7, 6-10, 10-8 match at No. 1 singles against Miami, while Neely scored a 6-7, 7-6, 1-0.
