ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University Women's Tennis team suffered a tough 4-3 loss to Buffalo at the Boylan Tennis Center Sunday afternoon.
The Huskies (8-12, 2-4) split the singles matches with Buffalo with
Adey Osabuohien (Hazel Crest, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor),
Raven Neely (Grosse Point, Mich./Grosse Point South) and
Evelyn Youel (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake Central) posting victories at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5 singles, respectively.
However, NIU saw its three-match doubles point streak come to an end as all three doubles teams lost their matches to help Buffalo claim the win.
"This was another tough loss for us," said NIU head coach Tanya Mehefu. "I thought we had a slow start in doubles and never recovered. We had two tough losses this weekend and we hope to learn from that experience."
The NIU women's tennis team returns to action Friday when the Huskies play host to Western Michigan on Senior Day. The match begins at 1 p.m. CT at the West Tennis Courts on the campus of NIU.
