Huskies Start MAC Home Schedule Against Toledo And Bowling Green

Women’s soccer looks for first home win and to improve on their 2-0 MAC start

DEKALB – The NIU women's soccer team (5-3-1, 2-0 MAC) are returning to the NIU Soccer and Track & Field Complex for matches this Friday and Sunday. The Huskies will welcome Toledo (4-4-2, 1-0-1 MAC) on Friday at 6:00 p.m. CT and Bowling Green (6-3, 1-1 MAC) on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. to DeKalb as they hope to continue their 2-0 start to Mid-American Conference play.
 
In NIU's first two MAC matches, they scored a combined four goals from four different goal scorers and held their opponents to one goal on 11 total shots on goal. On the season, the Huskies have 12 goals and 12 assists in nine games with the defense allowing nine goals in nine games with opponents outshooting NIU.
 
The Huskies now have ten different goal scorers on the season with junior Taylor Sarver (Machesney Park, Ill./Harlem) being the only player with multiple goals with three. Goalkeeper Amy Annala (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) made eight saves in her shutout win at Buffalo and also became the third NIU women's soccer player to record 300 career saves with her current total of 306.
 
The Rockets have scored 11 total goals on the season with nine assists in ten games with their goalie, Madison Perrin, allowing 12 goals on the year and making 50 saves. Bowling Green will play Western Michigan on Friday before coming to DeKalb and have scored 20 goals on the year with Skylar Fleak netting eight goals and four assists in nine games.
 
Friday's match will be "Join The Pack" night as all NIU students will will receive free bam bam sticks while supplies last. Sunday FUNday is back for the match against Bowling Green with pre-game activities for kids and post-game autographs along with Alumni Day to celebrate the 1997 MAC Championship team.
 
After this weekend, NIU will play against at home against Miami (Ohio) Thursday, Oct. 5 before heading back on the road for Ball State on Sunday Oct. 8.
