Huskies Close Road Trip at Bowling Green

DEKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University men's basketball team concludes its two-game trip to the State of Ohio on Tuesday, Jan. 9, as the Huskies visit Bowling Green. Game time against the Falcons is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT and will be available on ESPN3.

The Huskies have ventured to Northeast Ohio from Athens where they fell to the Ohio Bobcats, 78-68, on Saturday (Jan. 6) in their first road game of MAC play. The Bobcats raced out to a 14-2 start to open the contest and, despite cutting the deficit to a half-dozen in the second half, NIU was unable to recover.

Sophomore Eugene German (Gary, Ind./21st Century Charter) and junior Dante Thorpe (Washington, D.C./Triton College) each scored 15 points to pace the Huskies in Athens. German is averaging a team-high 19.5 points per game, second-best in the MAC and 52nd nationally, while Thorpe is shooting 60 percent from the field for the season, third-best in the MAC and 34th in the country.

Junior Levi Bradley (Milwaukee, Wis./Pius XI) scored 14 points and grabbed a game-high seven rebounds against Ohio. Bradley is one of just two players in the MAC, along with Buffalo's C.J. Massingburg, to rank in the top-15 in the conference in scoring, rebounding and steals. Bradley is also shooting 87.5 percent from the free-throw line this season, third-best in the conference and 57th nationally.

The Falcons of Bowling Green are 10-5 overall, including 1-1 in league play under third-year head coach Michel Huger. The Falcons fell at home to Miami in their conference opener before topping Eastern Michigan on the road last time out. Five players are scoring in double figures for Bowling Green, led by 16.2 points per game from Justin Turner. Dylan Frye (13.7), Demajeo Wiggins (13.2), Rodrick Caldwell (11.6) and Antwon Lillard (10.3) are also scoring in double figures for the Falcons. Bowling Green is the second-highest scoring team in the MAC, averaging 81.1 points per game.

Following Tuesday's game at Bowling Green, the Huskies will return home on Saturday, Jan. 13, when they host Eastern Michigan. Saturday's contest is Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day, all Huskie Faculty and Staff can receive two free tickets by showing their NIU OneCard at the Convocation Center Box Office.
