Huskies Host EMU and CMU on Homecoming Weekend

DEKALB, Ill. -- The Northern Illinois University women's soccer team will play its final two home matches of the regular season as it hosts Eastern Michigan on Friday, Oct. 12, and Central Michigan on Sunday, Oct. 14. Kickoff against the Eagles is scheduled for 6 p.m., on Friday while Sunday's kickoff against the Chippewas is slated for 2 p.m. 

Friday's match against Eastern Michigan is NIU's "kick out cancer" game with the first 100 fans receiving a "beat cancer" t-shirt. Sunday's contest will be Senior Day with NIU honoring its six seniors prior to the match. 

NIU is returning home following a 4-0 setback at Miami on Sunday (Oct. 7), the Huskies and RedHawks played an even opening hour to the contest before late goals helped lift Miami to the victory. 

Freshman Trudy Quidzinski (Green Bay, Wis./Notre Dame Academy) and junior Kyleigh Dominguez (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) continue to lead the Huskies in scoring while sophomore Megan Donnally (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) and senior MacKenzie Lee (Yorkville, Ill./Yorkville) have both seen significant time in goal; Donnally has appeared in 12 matches, making 74 saves, while Lee has seen action in six matches with 25 saves. 

Eastern Michigan comes to DeKalb with a 7-8 overall record, including a 2-4 mark in MAC play. The Eagles dropped a 1-0 decision at Bowling Green last time out (Oct. 7). Sabrina McNeill and Kristin Nason each have 14 points to lead EMU, McNeill has five goals and four assists while Nason has six goals and two assists. Kaylin Williams has played 13 matches in goal for the Eagles, posting a 1.31 goals against average and a .795 save percentage. 

Central Michigan brings a 5-9 record into the weekend, with a 3-3 conference mark. Lexi Pelafas has six goals and four assists to lead the Chippewas with 16 points. Brianna Wallbridge and Morgan Britain have each played eight matches in goal for Central Michigan, Wallbridge has a 1.23 goals against average and a .700 save percentage while Britain has a 2.29 goals against average and a .686 save percentage. 

With five matches left to play in the regular season, the Huskies remain in contention to qualify for the MAC Tournament, Friday's opponent, Eastern Michigan, enters the weekend one spot out of the tournament in ninth while Sunday's opponent, Central Michigan, is currently tied for seventh. 

Following this weekend's home contests, the Huskies will be on the road for the final three games of the regular season, beginning at Ohio on Thursday, Oct. 18.
