KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Northern Illinois University women's soccer team closed its season with a 4-0 setback at Western Michigan on Thursday afternoon at the WMU Soccer Complex. The Huskies and Broncos were scoreless at halftime before a trio of goals in the opening 15 minutes of the second half helped lead Western Michigan to the victory.
Both teams had chances in the opening five minutes of the contest as Grace Labadie saw her third minute shot saved by NIU senior goalkeeper

Trudy Quidzinski (Green Bay, Wis./Notre Dame Academy) had a chance for the Huskies stopped by Western Michigan goalkeeper Hannah Sargent in the fourth minute
NIU created another opportunity in the 14th minute as junior
Abby Gregg (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield East) was stopped by Sargent as the match remained scoreless.
Before the half-hour mark, Lee came up with two more saves, turning away a header from Colleen McKay in the 25th minute and stopping a chance by Hannah Kahn in the 30th minute.
As the match neared halftime, Lee made another save on a chance from McKay as the Huskies and Broncos ended the first 45 minutes even.
Western Michigan broke the deadlock in the first minute of the second half. Bailey Korhorn played a give-and-go with Morgan Otteson as Otteson scored to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead.
The Huskies responded with a pair of chances as sophomore
Amanda Czerniak (South Elgin, Ill./St. Charles North) had a shot go wide in the 50th minute and a shot from Quidzinski was saved by Sargent three minutes later.
WMU added a second goal in the 57th minute as Korhorn won a foot race to get on the end of a long flick from Alyssa Burke to double the Bronco lead. Korhorn scored again two minutes later, tapping home a goal from close range off another assist from Burke.
The Broncos added a fourth goal in the 64th minute as Ashleigh Garcia played a ball through to McKay who scored to give Western Michigan a 4-0 lead.
Lee made seven saves in goal for the Huskies while sophomore
Megan Donnally (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) added a save after coming on as a substitute late in the contest; Sargent made three saves for the Broncos.
NIU closes the season with a 2-17 overall record, 1-10 in Mid-American Conference play; Western Michigan improves to 13-6 and 7-4 in league play.
