KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior
Kevin Rodriguez (Pasadena, Texas/Deer Park) of the Northern Illinois University men's soccer team was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-North Region Third Team announced by the organization on Wednesday.
Rodriguez is NIU's first all-region honoree since
Luke Read was named to the All-Great Lakes Region Third Team in 2015.
During his senior season, the Pasadena, Texas, native started all 18 matches for the Huskies, scoring a pair of goals while tallying nine assists, the third-best total in the Mid-American Conference and tied for 18th nationally. Rodriguez recorded points in 10 games during his senior season and helped spearhead a Huskie attack that scored 28 total goals, the most scored by a NIU team since the 2011 season.
Rodriguez is one of just seven MAC players to earn All-North Region honors; the United Soccer Coaches North Region is comprised of schools form the Big Ten, Horizon League and MAC.
Earlier this fall, Rodriguez was named to the All-MAC First Team, becoming the first Huskie to earn first team honors since Isaac Kannah in 2014.
Rodriguez concluded his outstanding four-year NIU career with seven goals and 11 assists in 59 matches played.
