DEKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University wrestling team welcomes in-state foe Illinois for its annual Showcase Meet at the Convocation Center Friday night.
The match, which begins at 7 p.m. and will be shown live on ESPN-Plus, is Illinois' first visit to DeKalb since Jan. 10, 2016 when the Illini defeated NIU, 27-14. Illinois is one of three Big Ten teams NIU will face this season and the only one coming to DeKalb. The Huskies suffered a 20-14 setback at Indiana on Nov. 30 and will travel to Michigan State on Feb. 2, 2019.
Tickets are $10 per adult and $5 for children (ages 2-17) and senior citizens (ages 62+). Fans can purchase tickets on NIUHuskies.com/tickets or by calling 815-753-PACK (7225). The Showcase Meet, which will be held on a raised platform in the main arena, is the only ticketed event on NIU Wrestling's home schedule this season.

Ryan Ludwig. "There should be an electric environment in which to compete. The goal is to let it fly and put on a great show for the wrestling fans in this tradition rich area."
The Huskies come into Friday night's match looking to build on a solid effort in the loss to Indiana.
Brit Wilson (Mexico, Mo./Mexico) continues to have a solid season, earning a tech fall victory over Indiana's Jake Hinz.
Bryce West (Solon, Iowa/Solon) posted an impressive 11-7 win over Elijah Oliver, a 2017 NCAA qualifier.
