CHICAGO – The Northern Illinois University Women's Tennis team fell to DePaul, 7-0, at Lakeshore Sport & Fitness Sunday afternoon.
The Huskies (4-5) dropped their first doubles point in three contests as DePaul won all three doubles matches on the day.
NIU also came up empty in singles play as the Blue Demons won all six matches. Freshman
Maria Potsi (Athens Greece/1st Gel Cholargou) and sophomore
Brodie Walker (Bristol, England/Bristol Grammar School) had some of the best battles for the Huskies. Potsi lost her first set, 6-4, before dropping the second, 6-2. Walker pushed Alina Kuzmenkova in the first set before falling, 7-5. Walker eventually dropped the second set, 6-2.
"I felt we had our chances to win the doubles' point," said NIU head coach
Tanya Mahefu. " Overall, there is room for improvement."
The NIU women's tennis team returns to action Friday when the Huskies travel to Milwaukee to face Marquette. The match begins at 5 p.m. CT and will be held at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
