ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University Women's Tennis team completed the sweep of its weekend matches with a 7-0 victory over SIUE at the Boylan Tennis Center Sunday afternoon.
 
The Huskies (2-3) won the doubles' point, winning all three matches and all six singles matches.
 
NIU scored a pair of 6-3 victories at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Thisuri Molligoda (Colombo, Sri-Lanka) and Evelyn Youel (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South) defeated SIUE's Ann-Christine Link and Lara Tupper at No. 1 doubles. Maria Potsi (Athens Greece/1st Gel Cholargou) and Lara Slisko (Essendon, Australia/St. Columba's College) beat Raillane Kamdem and Katherine Lahue at No. 2 doubles. Abigail Dekkinga (Allegan, Mich./Allegan Senior). Brodie Walker (Bristol, England/Bristol Grammar) won by default at No. 3 doubles as the Cougars did not field a team.
 
Dekkinga and Youel were dominant at Nos. 4 & 5 singles with both winning in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Molligoda improved her record to 3-2 on the year with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Tupper at No. 1 singles. Potsi is 2-0 this spring with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles, while Lara Slisko (Essendon, Australia/St. Columba's College) posted her first win as a Huskie with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles.
 
"It was a great team effort against a team that beat us last year," said NIU head coach Tanya Mahefu. "Overall, it was a good weekend for the team. We go back to work this coming week for a tough match against Illinois State."
 
The NIU women's tennis team returns to action Saturday when the Huskies travel to Illinois State. The match begins at 1 p.m. CT
