KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Sophomore Eugene German (Gary, Ind./21st Century Charter) of the Northern Illinois University men's basketball team was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 14 First Team, the organization announced on Tuesday.

The leading scorer in the Mid-American Conference, German averaged 20.6 points per game, which ranks 34th nationally and eighth among underclassmen. German scored in double figures in all 32 games during the 2017-18 season, including 18 games of 20-or-more points. The sophomore from Gary, Ind., has scored in double figures 47 times in his career, including 40 of his last 41 games.

German scored 659 points this season, the third-most in a single season in NIU history. He shot 77.1 percent from the free-throw line, 12th-best in the MAC, and made 1.9 three-pointers per contest, 13th in the conference.

In league play, German averaged a MAC best 21.6 points per game while shooting 82.1 percent from the free-throw line, fifth-best in the conference, and connecting on 2.3 three-point field goals per game, tied for sixth-most in the league.

An All-MAC Second Team honoree, German is the first Huskie to earn All-District honors from the NABC since Xavier Silas was named to the District 14 First Team in 2010-11.

He is joined on the NABC All-District 14 First Team by: Tre'Shaun Fletcher (Toledo), Thomas Wilder (Western Michigan), Nick Perkins (Buffalo) and James Thompson IV (Eastern Michigan). All-District honorees also become eligible for NABC All-America honors.
