MILWAUKEE – The Northern Illinois University Women's Tennis team suffered a 7-0 loss to Marquette Friday afternoon.
The Huskies (4-6) dropped their first doubles point in three contests as Marquette won all three doubles matches on the day by the score of 6-1.
NIU also failed to win a singles match as the Golden Eagles won all six matches. Freshmen
Maria Potsi (Athens Greece/1st Gel Cholargou) and
Thisuri Molligoda (Colombo, Sri-Lanka) each suffered 6-0 losses in their first sets, but pushed their opponents in the second set. Molligoda lost 7-5 at No. 1 singles, while Potsi was edged at No. 3 in the second set, 7-6.
The NIU women's tennis team returns to the court Monday when the Huskies travel to Chicago to face UIC. The match begins at 12 p.m. CT.
