ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss to Miami at the Boylan Tennis Center Sunday.
NIU (5-11, 0-2) was unable to capture the doubles point, losing No. 1 doubles, 6-2 and No. 3 doubles, 6-1
Brodie Walker (Bristol, England/Bristol Grammar School) remained perfect on the weekend. The Huskie sophomore provided the Huskies with their lone win of the match, scoring a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Anastasia Vasiukhina at No. 5 singles.
Lara Slikso (Essendon, Australia/St. Columba's College) was taken to three sets for the second time of the weekend at No. 6 singles. Slisko, a freshman, won the second set, 6-1, after losing the first, 1-6. Unfortunately, she was unable to claim the third set, losing 1-6.
The NIU women's tennis team returns to the court Friday, March 30 when the Huskies travel to Western Michigan. The match begins at 12 p.m. CT.
