MUNCIE, Ind. – The Northern Illinois University women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss to Mid-American Conference foe Ball State Sunday.
 
"This was a disappointing loss for the team," said NIU head coach Tanya Mahefu. "I felt we came out slow in doubles and singles and were never able to recover."
 
Evelyn Youel (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South) posted NIU's (5-16, 0-7) lone victory on the day, defeating Victoria Sec at No. 5 singles. The Huskie senior won the first set 6-3, but dropped the second 1-6. Youel secured the victory winning the third set, 10-6.
 
NIU was unable to capture the doubles point, losing No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, 6-2, each.
 
The NIU women's tennis team returns to the court Friday, April 20 when the Huskies play host to Eastern Michigan.
