BUFFALO – The Northern Illinois University women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 defeat at the hands of Mid-American Conference foe Buffalo Friday afternoon.
Brodie Walker (Bristol, England/Bristol Grammar School) extended her winning streak to five matches as the Huskie (5-14, 0-5) sophomore stepped up a seed. Walker defeated Emel Abibula in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.
Evelyn Youel (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South) battled at No. 5 singles, but fell, 6-4, 6-3, to Sanja Sudhir at No. 5 singles.
NIU was unable to capture the doubles point, losing No. 2 doubles, 6-4 and No. 3 doubles, 6-3.
The NIU women's tennis team returns to the court Saturday, April 7 when the Huskies play host to Akron at the Boylan Tennis Center. The match begins at 4 p.m. CT. Fans can get updates from the matches this week via Twitter through @niuwomenstennis.
