DeKALB, Ill. – As a way to encourage student attendance at every Northern Illinois University home football game this year, NIU Athletics is introducing "Huskie $100s" a new promotion which will provide $100 each to at least 10 NIU students every game.
NIU students – who are admitted free to every NIU Athletics home event - are automatically entered to win the Huskie $100 when they swipe their OneCard at the gates on the East Side of Huskie Stadium at each game. The more students in the stands, the more winners will be selected. If there are 1,000 or less students, 10 students will win $100, which will be deposited in those students' bursar accounts within one week after the game. For 1,001-2,000 students, there will be 20 winners. For every additional one thousand students in the stands, 10 more students will win $100, so be sure to bring your friends, floors, roommates, club members and classmates!
Winners will be drawn at random from the student ID numbers associated with the scanned OneCards at each game. The winners will be drawn with 10 minutes remaining in the first quarter – so students must have their OneCards scanned and be in the stands prior to that time. The winning ID numbers will be announced, and displayed on the videoboard, during the last timeout of the third quarter and winners must be present to win.
Winners will meet the NIU Athletics representative at the south end of the East bleacher concourse and must present their OneCards at that time.
In addition, every student who does not win through the "Huskie $100s" promotion at any point during the year, but does attend all five home games (per OneCard scans), will be entered to win a random drawing for $750, also payable into the winner's bursar account. That drawing will take place after the last home game of the year (November 14) and prior to the Thanksgiving holiday.
The first NIU Football home game of 2018 is Saturday, Sept. 8 when Utah becomes the first Pac 12 team to play in Huskie Stadium. Kickoff for the game, which will be televised on ESPNews, is at 6:30 p.m. with Tailgate lots, including those on the East Side, open at 1:30 p.m. Ticket windows on both sides of the stadium open at 3:30 p.m.
