DEKALB, Ill. – The Northern Illinois University women's soccer team returns home on Sunday afternoon, October 13, as it hosts Miami (Ohio) at the NIU Soccer Complex. Game time against the RedHawks is scheduled for 2 p.m., and admission to all NIU soccer matches is free of charge.
Sunday's match is Victor E's Sunday Funday with a kids zone, inflatable and an appearance by Victor E. Huskie as well as a NIU cup giveaway to the first 100 fans.
Prior to Sunday's contest, NIU will be honoring its five seniors:
Kelsey Chope (San Jose, Calif./Leland),
Kyleigh Dominguez (Geneva, Ill./Geneva),
Abby Gregg (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield East),
Jennie Nailor (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Hoffman Estates) and
Lauren Neslund (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) who are playing their final season with the Huskie women's soccer team.
Sunday's match is a brief return home for NIU (2-9-1, 0-5-0 MAC) as it is currently in a stretch of five of six games away from DeKalb. On Thursday afternoon (Oct. 10), the Huskies dropped a narrow, 1-0 decision at Ball State. Junior goalkeeper
Megan Donnally (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) made a season-high 13 saves in the contest against the Cardinals.
Miami brings a 3-9-0 mark into Sunday's contest, with a 2-3-0 record in Mid-American Conference play after dropping a 2-0 decision at home against Western Michigan on Thursday afternoon (Oct. 10). Olivia Winnett has scored three goals to lead the RedHawks offensively while Izzie Vaccari has played 11 of the 12 matches in goal for Miami, posting a 1.19 goals against average and a .845 save percentage.
Following Sunday's game, the Huskies head back on the road next weekend as they visit Buffalo on Friday, October 18, and Akron on Sunday, October 20.
